I’m a few episodes into A Man in Full on Netflix about a real estate magnate Charlie Croker (Jeff Daniels). It’s based on a satirical Tom Wolfe novel from 1998.
This Netflix series is an example of Concurrent Programming (similar to predictive programming but is released concurrently with the news events it predicts).
The real estate magnate facing bankruptcy could be a more imposing version of Donald Trump and the red hair is an obvious allusion to the former president. Charlie Crocker may be how those afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome actually see him:
The ex-wife is based on Melania Trump and his new wife is (grotesquely) based on Ivanka:
Wally Croker is Barron Trump, portrayed here as embarrassed by his father’s antics. When Wally is introduced, Charlie remarks on how he has grown several inches since their last meeting and will soon be taller than him:
Wally and Martha are separated from Charlie. “Coincidentally,” Barron Trump is skipping the Republican National Convention and staying home with mom:
Early into the first episode, I noticed a reference to 1.6 billion dollars. This (I believe) alludes to Dominion’s lawsuit vs Fox News for that amount over the election fraud claims. 1.6 is also a reference to January 6th.
“He owes his bank half a billion dollars and they are closing in for the kill. In the meanwhile Charlie is shooting quail on his 29,000 acre plantation, Turpentine (called "Turmptime" n echo of slave parlance), and trying to impress a Jewish businessman, whose custom he needs " -https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books-dickens-was-then-and-this-is-now-1183560.html
It all makes sense that a 1998 novel seems to predict Trump in 2024 with barely concealed anagram “Trump time” considering this six-episode television series adaptation of the novel was ordered by Netflix in November 2021.
The politician Wes Jordan is templated from Barrack Obama. Jordan’s relationship with the church mirrors Obama’s relationship with Jeremiah Wright, the now-retired senior pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago:
I am only a few episodes into this so there will be a follow-up post. A Man in Full presents an example of propaganda in a television series specifically timed to coincide with the future political reality during which it will be broadcast.
